The Background:
Under the spreading of the global financial crisis, nations around the world have carried out various policies to push the industrial development in relevant sectors. However, the pharmaceutical industry driven by the robust demands has not been affected so much and is gaining more and more attention from the national governments and non-government institutions. Under this background, China starts a new round of evolution and adjustment regarding the pharmaceutical industry, with the ongoing national healthcare structural reform, the introducing and conducting of the Policies for Promoting the Development of Bio-industry, the national scientific items relating the new medicine innovation and development as well as the construction of national biopharmaceutical innovation incubation base.
With the rapid growing of national economy and the improving living standards, China has repowered it efforts in the medical security and medicine innovation sectors to help the pharmaceutical industry conquer the bad affects from the international financial crisis and keep the favorite development trend. In 2010, the gross output of medicine industry was 1242.7 billion RMB, a 80.05 billion RMB growth compared with 2005, with a annual growth rate of 23% and the total profit was 140.7 billion RMB, with the growth rate of 31.9% per year. The effectiveness grew faster than output.
2012 is the crucial year concerning the structural adjustment, transforming and upgrading of the pharmaceutical industry. The desire for health is increasing with the population, ageing progress, the soundness of healthcare system and residents’ purchasing ability, which makes China the fastest growing market in global drugs consumption and the second medical market in the world only after USA till 2020.

This provides a great drive to the development of CRO in new medicine R&D in China.
In the global pharmaceutical outsourcing market, the finished drugs and bulk drugs are the important parts to CMO.
